Love in Tandem: The Story of a Trash the Dress Photo Session with Cristi and Laura
It all began with an emotional surprise carefully planned by Cristi for his new wife, Laura, right after they returned from their honeymoon.
On a sunny Saturday, the official plan was a relaxed rollerblading session in IOR Park in Bucharest, followed by a casual meal in the city. But Cristi had something far more spectacular in mind—something we had planned together in detail just a few days before.
In the park, my role as a professional photographer was total discretion. Using a telephoto lens, I captured their natural, candid moments from a distance, without Laura suspecting for a second that she was the star of a photo session.
After their walk, Cristi suggested going to a more secluded restaurant. Meanwhile, the entire setup—the wedding dress, suit, and accessories—was already hidden in the trunk.
The big reveal happened at a gas station on the way out of the city. When Cristi took out the wedding dress, Laura was speechless:
“What are you doing with these?”
His answer came with a wide smile:
“We’re going to a Trash the Dress photo session!”
Her joy was instant. They quickly changed, and the first photo on the road captured a graceful twirl beside the car—an image radiating pure happiness.
Trash the Dress Journey: From Sunflower Fields to Dobrogea
The road to the seaside was filled with picturesque stops.
We began with a rustic frame by a railway, then moved on to the vibrant yellow explosion of a sunflower field. On the way to Constanța, we also stopped at the famous wind turbine fields in Dobrogea.
The sun, the wind, and their excitement created the perfect setting for bright, lively photographs.
A unique moment happened near the ship “Constanța, ” where we met a group of Austrian tourists cycling across Europe. Among them was a tandem bicycle that immediately caught my eye.
I asked if we could borrow it for a few shots, and the result was beautifully symbolic: the bride and groom starting their life journey together, pedaling side by side—through both good times and challenges.
Trash the Dress at Constanța Casino and the Black Sea
Once we reached the seaside, we couldn’t miss the iconic promenade near the Constanța Casino—one of the most popular spots for after-wedding photo sessions in Romania.
We continued onto the breakwater, where the couple took off their shoes and stepped into the cold sea.
Nature was on our side, offering powerful waves crashing dramatically against the rocks. In a peak moment, a wave soaked them from head to toe—Cristi even got hit right in the face.
It was a true Trash the Dress moment, resulting in dynamic, high-energy images.
As a photographer, the challenge was real. Climbing on the breakwater stones with a bag full of lenses and a camera in hand, trying to keep balance on slippery rocks, is an adventure in itself.
But it was worth the risk: we captured their pure love in the midst of nature’s raw elements.
Romantic Beach Photos at Sunset in Romania
The session ended on the beach, in a deeply romantic tone.
The couple drew a heart in the sand—a simple yet meaningful gesture. Laura, full of joy, jumped onto Cristi’s back, letting herself be carried through the sea water.
I grew very fond of them—they loved each other deeply, full of laughter, joy, and genuine smiles. Everything felt natural.
Love, light, shadow, and color—true poetry in photography.
The final image by the sea shows the bride trying to squeeze water out of her dress before leaving—a sincere detail that perfectly closes a memorable day.
I returned to Bucharest eager to download the photos, and as I reviewed them, I was reminded once again why I love this profession: because I can turn moments of happiness into timeless memories.
For me, this is what an after-wedding photo session is all about: freedom, emotion, authenticity.
Love, light, color—and a story honestly told through photography.
I truly loved it all—the couple and the photographs alike.
